The purpose of the article is to analyze the existing problems of regional identity on the example of European countries. Discussion: directions of development of European identity, its problems, as well as resources of integration on the basis of common cultural and social values are considered. Results: the conclusions formulated in the article can be used in the formation of regional strategies for the development of identity for the subsequent study of the phenomenon of European identity in the modern world.
