Relevance. Due to the completion of the strategic planning cycle in 2024, the currently implemented socio-economic development strategies of the subjects of the Russian Federation are subject to adjustment. Its effective implementation presupposes the improvement of the practice of developing these strategies, which actualizes the problem of substantiating the criteria for assessing their quality. Goal. Substantiation and substantive characteristics of the criteria for assessing the quality of the regional strategy. Methodology. Methods of scientific abstraction, analysis and synthesis for substantiation and consistent characterization of criteria for assessing the quality of a regional strategy. Results and conclusions. A system of criteria for assessing the quality of a regional strategy is proposed, the elements of which are: the completeness of its structural composition, the consistency of the basic components and their consistency. The use of this system will provide an adequate assessment of the quality of existing regional strategies. Scope of application. The results obtained are in demand in the development of necessary and reasonable measures to improve the practice of developing regional strategies.
