Abstract
The relevance of the topic. In recent years, a noticeable trend has been the expansion of the composition of strategic management tools for the development of the regional economy. The emergence of organizational innovations in the system of state management of the economy is carried out in two directions. The first is implemented by the Federal Center, which adopts laws and regulations, in accordance with which instruments that are invariant for all regions are put into practice. The second is implemented by regional public authorities, which initiatively develop new tools and «launch» them into management practice. However, management tools introduced on an initiative basis are usually localized and are not widely used in the economic space of the Russian Federation. Goal. Identification of public administration tools, the development and testing of which was carried out on an initiative basis by the state authorities of the regions, assessment of their potential and recommendations for their scaling. Methodology. Methods of scientific abstraction, analysis and synthesis to substantiate the need and directions of action to update the mechanism of regional economic management. Results and conclusions. The choice of strategic management tools for the development of the region's economy is made, their potential is characterized and the need for their wide dissemination in regional practice is justified.
