Abstract
The relevance of the topic. In the modern world, digital platforms have become an integral part of economic and social life, becoming a key driver of transformation in traditional industries, the labor market, and consumer behavior. The development of the platform economy enables the creation of new forms of employment, increased accessibility of goods and services, stimulating innovation, and expanding the digital sovereignty of states. The relevance of research into the platform economy stems from the need to develop balanced policies that combine the innovative potential of digital platforms with social protection, competition, and security. This is especially important in the context of global technological rivalry. Goal. The purpose of this article is to analyze the key socio-economic trends in the development of the platform economy in Russia and around the world. Methodology. When writing the article, general scientific methods of cognition were used: observation, comparison, description, analysis. The article uses statistical data on people employed in the platform economy, and uses methods of graphical representation of information. Results and conclusions. The theoretical aspects of the development of the platform economy were studied, the types of digital platforms and the criteria for their definition were given. The key socio-economic trends characteristic of the platform economy are highlighted. Its development in a global context is also analyzed. The article highlights the relevance and strategic importance of the platform economy in the context of the rapid digital transformation of the global and national economy. The key opportunities that the development of digital platforms opens up are considered. For the sustainable and balanced development of the platform economy in Russia, a comprehensive government policy is needed aimed at creating a modern regulatory framework, ensuring fair competition, protecting the rights of consumers and platform workers, as well as developing digital literacy and cybersecurity. Scope of application. The materials of the article can serve as a theoretical and empirical basis for further research in the field of digital economy, comparative regulation of platform models, as well as assessment of the socio-economic consequences of the development of the platform economy in Russia and abroad.
