Современный этап реформирования местного самоуправления в контексте задач социально-экономического развития регионов

Abstract

The article is devoted to the process of local government reform. The author argues that the measures being taken are aimed at ensuring more productive interaction between local government and public authorities at both the regional and federal levels, as well as improving the quality of governance. The logic of the reform is based on a pragmatic approach, according to which the priority task should be the building of such a system that will be able to effectively solve the issues related to its competence. Given the uneven regional development in our country coordi- nation between the state and local government should be aimed at ensuring of citizens’ social and economic well-being. Democratization of local government system in this case is not meant to be the main goal, but should be considered as a means of more adjusted municipal policy.
