The article discusses methods of constructing an integrated indicator of competitiveness of the region. Reflected a range of private values (indices, potentials), which are calculated on the basis of the integral values of the competitiveness of the region and its economic and competitive potential. It is concluded that the aggregate advisable to form the basis of sectors and proposes a corresponding formula for its calculation.

The article discusses the various definitions of regional competitiveness. It is shown that there is a need to provide evidence for their classification. The result suggests appropriate approaches.

In article theoretical and methodical aspects of an assessment of competitiveness on the basis of an integrated indicator are considered. It is shown that existing techniques in a bigger measure reflect economic and social situation of regions, than their competitiveness. The conclusion is drawn that the integrated indicator should be formed on the basis of the private indicators reflecting various aspects of activity in which the region enters the real competition to other administrative-territorial educations.
