The article analyzes the situation with accidents on the roads of the Voronezh region in 2017 and the measures taken by the state traffic Inspectorate to improve it. The author’s proposals to improve the efficiency of activities related to road safety in the Voronezh region are presented.

The article discusses the correlation of such notions as security and road safety; the author’s definition of concept of safety of traffic; suggested that security is the main purpose of the road at which traffic itself has acquired a qualitatively new characteristic reflecting the degree of protection from road accidents.

Currently, on the background of what is happening in the world integration pro- cesses, including in the Eurasian space, very relevant are the scientific studies associated with forecasting the possible consequences of such integration, and developing strategies for its develop- ment in all spheres of human activity that will be affected. Is no exception and such activities as the provision of road safety. The article represents the author’s attempt to predict possible changes in this area in connec- tion with the implementation of such a Eurasian mega-project, as the creation of the New silk road and on this basis to define the strategic interests of the Russian Federation.
