COMPETITIVENESS OF THE ORENBURG REGION AND WAYS TO IMPROVE IT

Abstract

The relevance of the topic. In a market economy, attention to the competitiveness of regions is significantly increased. This is due to the change in the role and status of the regions themselves, which, being subsystems of the national economy, simultaneously function as independent socio-economic systems. The level of well-being of the country as a whole depends on the level of competitiveness of the regions. Goal. The purpose of this article is: to investigate the competitiveness of the Orenburg region, to develop recommendations that contribute to its improvement. Methodology. When preparing the article, methods of system analysis, expert-analytical methods, comparison methods, based on logical conclusions and having a general scientific character were used. Results and conclusions. The key competitive advantages of the Orenburg Region, as well as its weak positions, are highlighted. To maintain and increase the competitiveness of the region, the main priorities of its development are outlined: a stable diversified economy and developed entrepreneurship; development of the transport and logistics complex; human potential development; spatial development and creation a comfortable urban environment; effective management based on digital technologies. The model of innovative competitiveness of the region is presented. Scope of application: regional economy.
