DEVELOPMENT OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES IN THE CONTEXT OF SANCTIONS RESTRICTIONS

Abstract

The relevance of the topic. As a result of the application of international sanctions against the Russian Federation, starting in 2022, small and medium-sized enterprises have faced some challenges. Studying the impact of these restrictions on SMEs is very important for adapting Russian businesses to new conditions, as well as building strategies and developing various measures that will ease the tension and contribute to the growth and development of companies. Goal. To identify the main ways of adaptation of small and medium-sized enterprises in the context of sanctions restrictions. Methodology. Various research methods are used in this work: bibliographic, graphic, systematization and generalization of information. When writing the paper, we used the results of research by various authors on the subject under consideration, published in leading publications, official data, and the authors' own conclusions. Results and conclusions. The analysis found that the sanctions led to a reduction in access to imported resources for SMEs, as well as an increase in logistics solutions and a reduction in export opportunities. However, successful adaptation practices have also been identified, such as reorientation to the domestic market, successful import substitution, and digitalization of business processes. The measures of state support to stabilize the situation of domestic business are considered. Scope of application. The results of the research can be used by small and medium-sized businesses to develop anti-crisis strategies.
