The article analyzes the key academic aspects of the sociology of governance in the military sphere, defined by the authors as a subsection of general sociology. The authors is revealed specifics of the subject field of this section of sociological knowledge. In publication has a given characteristic of the main stages of development, scientific schools and directions of research activity in the framework of the evolution of military-management thought and formulated the main tasks of the sociology of military administration. Based on the analysis of the existing range of scientific publications of domestic and foreign military sociology and management thought, an original author’s set of key functions of the sub-section is formulated. Particular attention is paid to the experience of organizing regional empirical sociological studies conducted within the framework of developing an educational strategy and developing the most optimal methods of organizing the educational and methodical process. The authors established the significance of applying the principles of the theory of military-social management in the system of restructuring the armed forces at the present stage of military reform. The influence of the process of introducing elements of management sociology into the system of sociological knowledge mastered by the cadets of the regional military academies is analyzed on the example of Voronezh Air Force Academy.

The article analyzes the ideas formed within the framework of the earliest experimental regional research schools of the Russian sociology of management that arose on the basis of the institutes of scientific analysis and organization of labor activity in the framework of the formation of the concepts of scientific organization of work that actively absorbed foreign experience in building it. The criteria for periodization and internal institutional structure of the initial stage of the Soviet management sociology are determined. Particular attention is paid to the ex- perience of working out the social organizational concepts of labor activity of the most prominent representatives of regional schools of the «sociological» trend for the scientific organization of work (O. E. Yermansky, F. R. Dunaevsky, N. A. Vitke). The influence of the «General Organizational Science» AA is analyzed. Bogdanov on the main regional directions of sociology management of the subsequent period.
