The article considers the structure of the housing stock of the Russian Federation, presents the classification of the types of housing stock. The main components of the housing problem in the Russian Federation, the problematic situations of the housing stock, which are complex, are highlighted. The main tasks that should be addressed in the first place, with the achievement of effective development of the housing stock.
