Abstract

The origins and causes of the military failure of the beginning of the great Patriotic war are analyzed. Reflected discussion in scientific journals on this period, the idea that the thesis of the suddenness of the German attack on the USSR is not true. The efforts and methods of solving the main task of the rear, aimed at saving industrial and agricultural potential, as well as cultural values of the country in a rapidly changing military environment, are described.
