As the basis of the study were the ideas of the system paradigm, formulated by G. Kleiner and developed in many other works. In addition, the ideas of economic revolutions, the problem of poverty and other circumstances that affect the means and methods of state regulation of the agricultural sector of the region's economy, which is a subsystem of the regional socio-economic system, were considered as staging provisions. Raising the problem of state regulation, it was decided to consider it (state regulation of the food sector of the region's economy) in statics, as an object, that is. the system of influence, despite the fact that the food market itself is the subject of research, i.e. the system in the development process. In the process of the study it was possible to identify the factors affecting the functioning of the food market; to determine the parameters of its effectiveness, as well as to present the typology of markets depending on the dominant type of food products. Thus, it was found that in the economic space of the region, as a rule, local food markets of various types are formed, however, there are territories, natural and climatic features of which determine the narrow production specialization (mono-raw regions) and cause the formation of only markets for food products of a high degree of processing due to the products imported into the region.
