ASSESSMENT OF THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ELECTRIC POWER INDUSTRY IN THE SYSTEM OF NATIONAL ECONOMIC SOVEREIGNTY OF THE STATE IN THE CONDITIONS OF GLOBAL CHALLENGES
Relevance of the topic. The energy sector is one of the ten industries with the largest contribution to Russia's GDP. Energy is one of the basic industries that provides the country with energy resources. At the final stage of the transformation of the Russian energy system, significant changes have appeared. They led to its reorientation to the individualization of each unit of the energy industry of the enterprise, which contributed to the development of activities in the field of attracting investments. The company's investment activity was aimed at replacing equipment. It had an impact on the pace of operation of the enterprise itself, its efficiency, which affected reliability and had an impact on the environment and the economy. The relevance and significance of the study are determined by investments in the development of energy infrastructure. Reducing the level of depreciation of electrical networks requires attracting a significant amount of investment from various sources of financing. The growth of investments in the electric power industry makes a noticeable contribution to investments in fixed assets. The implementation of investment programs by electric power entities makes a significant contribution to the economic development of related industries and this is important in assessing the functioning of the electric power industry of the state in the context of global challenges. Goal. To investigate and evaluate the functioning of the Russian electric power industry in the system of national economic sovereignty of the state in the context of global challenges. Methodology. Methods such as comparative analysis, statistical data processing, synthesis, comparative analysis, and expert assessment were used to solve the tasks. Results and conclusions. The most important stage in the development and successful functioning of energy companies' investment activities is the optimization of investment financing sources. Considerable attention is paid to the issues of public–private partnership in the framework of investment projects and possible prospects for the development of forms of public–private cooperation in the investment sector, in particular concessions. The strategic objectives of the development of the electric power industry are to ensure the energy security of the country and the regions, to ensure the reliability and safety of the Russian electricity supply system in normal and emergency situations, as well as the investment and innovative renewal of the industry. The main objectives of state regulation of energy investment development are to create a favorable investment environment, ensure consistent tariff, tax and other areas of investment regulation in the energy sector, and stimulate and support strategic initiatives of business entities.
