Abstract

At the moment, the development of society, science, technology and the economy has led to the fact that now, in the first place, there is active technological competition between states. In this connection, the government of the Russian Federation has a need to bring the state economy onto the path of sustainable innovative development. However, there are some difficulties with this transition. For example, features of the geographical position of Russia and the unevenness of its spatial and territorial development. At present, it is already difficult to ignore the issues of increasing the innovative competitiveness of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, as well as individual territories, which implies the particular relevance of this study.Thepu rpose . The aim of the study was to study the features of the development and functioning of the innovative economy of Russia. Objectives . To achieve this goal, the essence and significance of innovations in the transition economy is revealed, the strategy of innovative development of Russia, namely the prospects and barriers to its implementation, is examined, recommendations for creating a favorable innovative climate in the country are studied. The methodological base of the study was made up of such methods as analysis and systematization of scientific literature on the topic under study, structural logical, systemic approaches and others. Results . The specifics of the development of the information economy of Russia is presented in the form of the main strengths of the country and the barriers that prevent it. Conclusion . The results of the study showed that in the current conditions of the country’s development, there is still the possibility of a productive transition of Russia to an innovative economy.
