Abstract

The article explores the evolution of approaches to the problem of ensuring balanced regional development in the normative and legal documents of the Russian Federation. It has been established that the existence of a significant regional differentiation in the level of socio economic development is recognized as one of the key problems that pose a threat to national and economic security. However, virtually none of the instruments emphasizes the analysis of intraregional imbalances in social and economic development. However, the statistics show that such imbalances exist, necessitating appropriate public policies to ensure balanced intraregional development.
